It reminds me of an American style bar, It could be me really? As you enter you see a row of tables and chairs. It probably fits 20 / 30 people so it fills up quickly. We arrived and it was empty about 30 min later it was packed.  Sunday was a perfect day to sit back have a few drinks and enjoy the weather.

In the city it is really hard to decide what to eat and where to go. According to urban spoon we have over 1700 cafe's / Restaurants  in the CBD which is crazy. You can spend hours looking and trying to decide. We walked past this place and thought why not? It also has $11 Pulled Pork rolls so another great reason.

You order at the caravan and it has a selection of beers, wines, ciders and can make cocktails. The prices are very reasonable as well.
 To drink i had a Mountain Goat Fancy Pants Ale, it was very light, fruity but had a slight bitter after taste but was still perfect for a sunny afternoon.

I ordered the $11 Pulled pork roll and it was really tasty, not too sweet but cooked well. Not dry and just fell apart.

We really enjoyed this little place and would probably come back.

I normally don't do my posts till Monday but it is hot right now. If you have never been to Melbourne it is known as the city with 4 seasons in a day and it is true as today is 36 degree or 96.8F.  Since we are renovating and updating the lights we went to a place called Schots Home Emporium and it is amazing. It has all home renovation things that i could need, thank goodness i didn't know about this place before or i would have no money. I heard about the Cafe' a long time ago and starred it on my maps as a place to go. It is about 15 Minute drive from Schots and the sales assistant told us to go there. It is a small place with lovely decor'. It has terrariums and is nice and clean. The staff are friendly,

We had been told to have the Cold Brew with condensed milk. We only have condensed milk in tea, strange but really good.

 

The coffee had no bitterness and the condensed milk added a lot of sweetness, normally i don't add any sugar to my coffee but it was very cooling and lovely. It was just what we needed for a hot day.

For Lunch Kim ordered the Asparagus & Freekah, it had Crispy Salami and 2 brioche eggs.

The eggs had been cooked perfectly, as she cut them open they oozed the yolk out. She really enjoyed the meal as nothing had been over cooked (which tends to happen).

I had the Pork & Truffle Sausage Sandwich

 It was a big burger not a sandwich, but it was really tasty. The sausage was cooked really well and the bun was crispy but not burnt. It was hard to hold but i managed. The mustard was not hot but more sweet which i enjoyed. I am not a huge english mustard sort of person more chili type.  After my lunch i had a latte because I needed more beans. I like to try a coffee first to make sure the beans meet my expectations and they did. The beans are also roasted on site, the beans i got had just been roasted 2 days ago and that is perfect because you need to leave the beans for a couple of days before using them.

It was a lovely place and the food and coffee matched. We had not been disappointed so we will be back

Little Chloe

Little Chloe

What is becoming a ritual of ours, every Sunday we go out for brunch with friends. We were originally going to go to  Chez Dre, but as things change so did our plans. We ended up going to Little Chloe, we have been there a few times and always enjoyed the food and the coffee. They do all their roasting on site like a lot of the other ones we go to. Good, fresh roasted beans. The place is quite kitschy with pour overs as lights. Our friend gave me his old SLR camera, which I am really grateful  for.  All my pictures today have been taken with it.

We had two types of Pour Over Coffee's. Ethiopian and a Guatemalan. The Ethiopian was lighter and fruitier. The Guatemalan was  a heavier coffee. Both delicious.

 I had the pancakes (more like pikelets), made with passion fruit, pears and maple syrup. It was still amazing.

 Kim had the Samon and poached egg, with feta and mango chutney.

Mel had the Big breakfast with the eggs, bacon, sausages, beans on sourdough bread.

Dolf got the Pulled Pork Bagel with Asian slaw?, pineapple and Peking Sauce

It has been very quiet at work recently, so the company I work at  allows me to do what I want when its quiet. I decided to make a whisky rack for my friend as he got me into whisky.

 



 

I had to bring my drop saw from home, I realised I shared photo's on snapchat so I don't have them saved .
First you get a pallet. then you work out how long you want it to be I made it 60cms long and 50cms high. Cut and nail...that simple

Then I spent two days chroming at work because stain stinks really bad.

I was happy with how it turned out, so I gave it to him yesterday for his birthday.

For Lunch we went to Richmond Hill Larder on Bride road. The coffee was pretty average but the food was good.

We stopped at purvis beer on the way home and bought a range of Ale's, Stouts.

Our friend wanted the Rodenbach 2011 Vintage beer.

 

 

The flavours were amazing, sweet yet bitter. You could taste cherries, vinegar and a little bit of chocolate. It is meant to be drunk warm which I have never done. Its worth a try for something different.

 

Also ...Pigs bred to taste like whiskey.

 

It has been a lovely weekend, pretty chilled but pleasant.
