Laziness

Laziness

Laziness is a terrible thing, I have not done an update in ages and it not because i have been that busy but i lost motivation which is not a good thing because we are only a week into a new year. Every year i think i should make a resolution but i never know what to do. The only thing i want to do or get better at is latte' art. For those of you who don't know what latte art is, it is a pattern that people make on their coffee's to make it look awesome.

It is not that easy, it requires a steady hand and perfectly frothed milk. Here is a selection of Latte Art images. Over the christmas break i had 2 weeks off work and Kim and i had one week together. This has never happened so it was nice to spend the time with her.
We went to a place called B-east Burger. It was very busy but the food was really good. The meat was fresh and good quality.

I had Pho' from The Local Taphouse and it was a massive serve and went well with my beer.

We had Thai food from Jindai Thai and as always it is fresh and tasty.

We had our friends birthday and played Cards Against Humanity. I also started repainting our old Ikea furniture so will do a blog post when i am done. I don't know if i accomplished anything from start to finish. Normally there is five of us but this week was my boss and i so  has bought me a coffee every day which is nice. I also found out i passed my trial and will be the permanent sales rep so i will be doing interstate work.

This year is going to be a challenging year but i can't wait.

Stagger Lee's

Stagger Lee's on Urbanspoon

I was invited to go try this restaurant out yesterday, this place being Proud Mary's sister cafe' has a very similar feel. Very hipsterish with its fancy lights and its industrial walls.

Its table displays are cold drips, it has a nice selection of pastries. I was told the coffee croissant is meant to be really good.

For drinks i ordered the Panama pour over and it was strange, i could not place what the different flavours are, sweet fruity but it had other flavours. This coffee bean can be used for espresso as well as filter so i also tried it as an espresso. Not many beans can work with espresso and filter, well it will work but the flavours will not be right.

Our friend had the Caramel Pixie Gangsta Milkshake, it had salted caramel with chocolate chunks. It was really sweet and crunchy and huge. It is big enough for 2 people.

For lunch i ordered the the Butteril Fried Chicken and it was absolutely sensational, The chicken was really crispy but in the middle was so tender and not dry. It came with cauliflower. It was so balanced,  one of the best meals i have had in a long time and i don't often say that.

Our friend ordered the Shrooms 'n' Truffles, it had roasted pine mushrooms with truffled polenta, egg yolk and toast.

The last order was the Fitz-Royale, it had Asparagus, cashews, avocado and a poached egg.

For dessert we shared the Coco Pop and salted caramel french toast. It was so well balanced, the sweetness from the ice cream and coco pops, but the raspberry gave it a bit of tartness  and crunchiness from the honeycomb.

The food and coffee was outstanding, it has not been around for a long time and i know once people catch onto this place it will be impossible to get into. While it is new and quiet i will have to make the most of it.

Always eating out

Always eating out

I have had a chest infection for the last few weeks, being a guy we wait as long as possible before going to the doctor to get antibiotics. But friday night we had a pizza dinner at kims bosses place and i had to go. Last time we did it was about 2 years ago and i did what i normally do and drink way too much then make a fool of myself, not remember getting home and waking up with a nasty hangover. This time I was on the antibiotics so no alcohol..well ok only 1.

We had a selection of fresh home made pizzas, like pepperoni, salami, chili and vegetarian. It was a warm evening. There was bread with dips, cheeses and all your other party favourites.
We ended up going home about 11pm.

Saturday morning we got up at about 11am still not feeling too well and needing amazing coffee we went to Oak room for lunch.

I had my pour over coffee and a hamburger, it was amazing because the meat tasted like shredded beef or maybe just being tired i hallucinated it.
We went to springvale to get a drink on the way home. I did not have this drink it looked like it would put my in a sugar coma.

Saturday night we went for a drive because it was a beautiful warm night. We ended up driving for two hours, we went to the forest and saw a wombat. It was so cute as it kept chasing the headlight on the car.
Sunday morning we went to my parents place for breakfast, after that we went to catch up with friends who we haven't seen for ages.
We went to a cafe called Code Black Coffee, It was a large cafe' and very dark.

All we ever seem to do is eat and drink coffee :), but its what i enjoy doing.

After we had lunch we went for dessert. We went to a popular gelatti place N2 Extreme

I had the centre one and that was a mango gelatti. Kim had a Matcha one, the flavours are sweet, but not over the top. I had to take a pic of the lego.

It was a relaxing weekend

Seven Seeds, St Ali, Admiral Cheng Ho

Since I got this DSLR, I am enjoying taking photo's a lot more. I am not used to having to focus on pictures or using different options and I am becoming a lot more passionate about photography. Anyway enough about me being a "photographer" ( I use the term very loosely) and onto our busy weekend. I started doing this post on Monday but it is now Thursday, pretty slack i know.  Like every weekend we go out for lunch and we have been to Seven Seeds before but everything seems more exciting with a better camera.

Kim had the Ethopian pour over, it was light and fruity so we bought a bag for home

I had a double ristretto as we had no coffee at home. I needed plenty of coffee so it was going to be a coffee crawl.

I had the black pudding with baked eggs. It was a bit spicy but really tasty. Not what i expected.

Kim had the field mushrooms with poached eggs on bread.

St Ali on UrbanspoonSunday we went to buy a Pour over from St Ali, more Coffee as always

Admiral Cheng-Ho on UrbanspoonIt is always super busy, one day we will actually eat there. After St Ali it was time for lunch.

As always more coffee. I don't remember what i had it wasn't great. But the food was amazing

I had some African Mung Bean Combo thing, my friend had the Avo on toast,  the only other thing i remember is pumpkin soup.

It was a busy, coffee drinking weekend. I need to learn more about photoshop.
Thanks Again
