Hammer & Tong

Hammer & Tong
Hammer & Tong on Urbanspoon

Fitzroy is an amazing suburb is has Gelato Messina, N2 Extreme Gelato and plenty of different types of foods like greek, mexican, vegetarian, asian and it has plenty of bars and pubs. It is also known for the graffiti in the side streets. I can't draw a stick figure let alone anything fancy, you can spend hours just looking at the artwork.

I Had been here a few times before, i had breakfast and one night we found out they did dinner. It is another smallish cafe'. They use Duke's coffee and it is always consistent and tasty so we decided to go for dinner. When we sat down the waitress told us it is more Tapas style so small portions for sharing and we don't mind sharing we normally do. Some things are hard to share like burgers but you have to try it anyway.

It has a great wine selection, they do cocktails, beers, ciders and the coffees.

Kim had a Golden Gaytime Milkshake and it is caramel milkshake with vanilla ice cream and honeycomb biscuits. If you have never heard of them check it out Here

I had an Ethopian filter, light and fruity and thats what i love about Melbourne. The quality of the coffee available and how light and fruity it is.

For the first item we chose was the smoked duck and potato with chicken crackling and caviar. It was very smooth, sweet, creamy. The chicken was crispy. The flavours worked together and was a nice way to start a meal.

The next item was the soft shell crab burger. You really need 1 between 2 people, i thought they were going to be a few small ones not one bigger one being tapas style. It was super crispy and really tasty.

The third item was the potted prawns, fennel and charcoal bread. the bread was crispy and the prawns tasted quite sweet and fresh.

We chose the lebanese eggplant paneer curry with angel hair chilli and salad. It was not really spicy but it was tasty and looked really good. The eggplant was not over cooked and the tofu was good.

and finally our favorite thing twice cooked crispy pork with blood orange and star anise jus.,It had brussel sprouts with kale chips. Like with all the other food it was tender not overdone yet the skin was cooked to perfection, so crispy and the kale chips are so different and random. We loved the meals here and the staff are amazing. We will come back again for a meal.
It was a lovely night.

Seven Seeds Cafe'

Kim and I have been going to Seven Seeds for the last year on and off. Its about a 40 min drive from our place, but we love the coffee. The flavours are amazing. Their espresso  tastes like coke, its strange but true.
We decided to have brunch with friends who we have not seen in ages. It was a lovely morning.

The Decor is kind of kitschy but nice. The staff are friendly and the food came pretty promptly. Since doing this blog it has taught me more about photos and placement, i need to take photos of the menu as i don't often recall what other people ate. I am good like that.

We had the Ethiopian Pour over, its was a bit sweet yet fruity.

If their is a Pulled Pork burger i have to try it, this is definitely a decent sized one and the flavours are amazing, sweet yet juicy.

I have no idea what the others are but they all looked good. I will to try and find out.
We really enjoy going there and is worth a try if you like coffee.

Kind regards

Richmond hill Lader + Whisky Rack

Richmond hill Larder + Whisky Rack

It has been very quiet at work recently, so the company I work at  allows me to do what I want when its quiet. I decided to make a whisky rack for my friend as he got me into whisky.

I had to bring my drop saw from home, I realised I shared photo's on snapchat so I don't have them saved .
First you get a pallet. then you work out how long you want it to be I made it 60cms long and 50cms high. Cut and nail...that simple

Then I spent two days chroming at work because stain stinks really bad.

I was happy with how it turned out, so I gave it to him yesterday for his birthday.

For Lunch we went to Richmond Hill Larder on Bride road. The coffee was pretty average but the food was good.

Angus Beef Burger
Bagel with bacon and egg

Eggs, mushrooms, beans and toast
Vegetarian risotto

We stopped at purvis beer on the way home and bought a range of Ale's, Stouts.
Our friend wanted the Rodenbach 2011 Vintage beer.

The flavours were amazing, sweet yet bitter. You could taste cherries, vinegar and a little bit of chocolate. It is meant to be drunk warm which I have never done. Its worth a try for something different.

It has been a lovely weekend, pretty chilled but pleasant.
Have a lovely day
