Life In The Fast Lane

Life In The Fast Lane

I have been at my job now for just over two months and it has been crazy, at my last job I had a couple of hours a day to do what I want. I would be able to do Youtube, Ebay and blog but now I have not much time even though I spend less time traveling I have struggled to find time to do this blog. Over the last few weekends we have been renovating again and replacing furniture to make the house look less cluttered. We have been looking for a T.V Unit for nearly 2 years and we finally found the right one. We got the unit from Holy Funk Furniture in Moorabbin. I also added an I.r Extender so I can turn the amp on and off with out opening the sliding doors.

I hated the wall mount that the other T.V was so I replaced it with a $20 bracket that sits a few centimeters off the wall.

Last weekend we installed adjustable shelves into a  cupboard and readjusted the rail because whoever built it was a Muppet and it gives us more flexibility with storage.

I hated my modem sitting out in the open so I got a Cube frame and ran all my cables up the wall and into the cube. We need to print a picture off  to cover the front but it will look good when completed but we have not had time to print off the pic so hopefully we will do that in the next few days.

Those who know me know that I love doing Latte art but I have upgraded my coffee machine and sad to say no more art but I got my new machine at an amazing price and could not refuse it. The coffee is pretty close to a fully manual machine but makes coffee from start to finish in 60 seconds.

I hope the terrible weather passes so we can go take photos, until then we have two more cupboards to fix and a lot of painting.
What do you think?

Wiener Melange Coffee and a japenese dinner

Wiener Melange Coffee

What is this coffee, what is a Wiener Melange....Well it is a mixture of whipped cream, brown sugar, egg yolk and lots of espresso. Why would I do this too myself? No idea but I did.

I used 18grams (2 shots espresso) of coffee because it said 250 ml of coffee but I couldn't be bothered.

2 Teaspoons brown sugar    and an egg yolk

Finally the whipped cream.

It was a strange drink to have, I don't know how to explain it...maybe sweet gluggy espresso with cream, one of the weirder drinks I have had.

Over the last 8 years we have been going to a small family owned restaurant called Nutschan, it is a small place that sits about 20 people, very out dated décor. But they are lovely people.

Cream Korokke
Eggplant with sweet miso paste

Tempura Udon
Pork Tonkatsu
The food is always lovely and filling. It is awesome having a small place around the corner. I need to get in the habit of taking more pictures.

Kind regards

Pour Over Copper Stand

Pour Over Copper Stand
Over the last few days, work has been super quiet...I am lucky enough to be able to do what I want at these times. After getting my inspiration from Pinterest I decided to  build the Copper pour over stand

First I took a 1.5m copper pipe.
Measured out the legs at 17cm (height is personal preference)
added some copper caps

Then I added 4 right angle joiners.
I cut out 4 * 3cm pieces
 I added T Junctions

I cut out 4 * 6cm pieces for the middle

After I joined all the pieces. I then took it apart and used super glue to hold it together. Which was a slow process as you want it to be level.

Time to polish it up with Vinegar. :)

Dinner
After Kim having a crap day we decided to have Pho' for dinner so we went to a little Vietnamese place around the corner called Pho' Hoang. It is a bit outdate décor but staff are friendly.

Bean shoots and coriander I think lol, chilli and lime for the pho'

 Sliced beef pho'
Here is a recipe..Beef pho
I am too lazy to make it.

And Kim had roast pork
As I had a craving for spring roles

It was a really filling meal and perfect for the 11 degree night. I really should try make Pho' sometime. Anyway once I paint my whisky rack I will load the images.

Thanks for reading
