Cultural Commons

Cultural Commons

Springvale is full of amazing restaurants  and has a large selection. You can get most type of Asian delicacies, from dumplings to crabs and lobsters, pho' and  noodles. They have cafe's as well. You can spend ages looking at all the different places. We wanted something different and normally if we want burgers we would go to Glen Waverley or Ringwood but we decided to go to Cultural Commons. It is a large restaurant that is still fairly new. Its menu selection is good and has a fair range of beers.

I ordered a Budweiser and Kim got the Nutella Milkshake, the reviews i read said the milkshake did not have enough Nutella in it so i asked them to put lots in and it was amazing. So sweet, chocolaty and nutty.

For dinner i ordered the Hot Chick Burger which was spicy buttermilk fried chicken, jalapeno and spicy mayo.

The batter was light and crispy, the chicken was moist and tender however the jalapenos are not really hot but i still enjoyed the meal.

Kim ordered the Shroominator burger which looked really good and she enjoyed it.

The chips are crispy and the Aioli was creamy.
We enjoyed our meals will be back again .

Shooting Range

Shooting Range

We bought a friend a voucher for a shooting range near us for Christmas last year and because she is only free on Sundays it has taken us this long to organise a get together. The shooting range is about 10 minutes from us and has been around for 50 years. Raymond was our trainer / make sure we don't do anything stupid supervisor to which we all survived so he did a good job. He is a funny guy and made sure we enjoyed ourselves.

When you walk in they have rifles and then they have a separate room for hand guns so that was where we headed.  The distance for the targets was set to 25 meters. normally they start off at 10 meters and then go 25 meters.

Raymond instructing what do and what not to do, I had to ask him about shooting the gun sidewards and said it was called "Gangsta style" and he mentioned "modified gangsta style"

When the red light was on it meant you could shoot and they had another on the outside to warn people to be careful.

The first gun we got to shoot was a 9mm Luger  which was a smaller gun and was good to get a bit of a feel with it. We had 25 shots with each gun.

The second gun was the 38 Special - S&W 686 Revolver which had a bigger kick to it but was a lot heavier so after a while your hands get tired.

I could not see the target very well so they had a telescope to see how you shot.

The third gun was the .22lr - Beretta 87 Target Semiauto Pistol  ( the one on the right ),

After we collected our targets he said we could each have a shot with the big gun so we all got super excited.

I think the gun was a .357 Magnum and it packed a punch, that adrenaline rush you get for a split second that makes you feel alive and excited.

It was fun to do something different and i will do it again in the future.
have you ever been shooting?

Minh Ky

Minh Ky

Minh Ky on Urbanspoon

I was a fan of  Rock Kung in Glen Waverly until now, Minh Ky is your typical Asian type of restaurant. It has all the pics of the food printed on paper with the names written on it hanging on the walls, full of mirrors and a fish tank with your different fish, crabs. When you walk in you have the roast ducks and pork hanging in the window. You know it is good when you see a lot of people in it and it is always busy. I was told about the barbeque pork but this time i felt like eating there not just getting take away. The drinks are dirt cheap, a Heineken cost me $4.50 and that is crazy cheap for a restaurant.  Kim wanted a lot of meat so we did just that.

We ordered the Crispy pork  and BBQ Pork, the meat was tender and sweet. The crispy pork was amazing, so much crackling.

We ordered the Kang Kong (Water spinach) with garlic, It is such a massive serving and so fresh.
The  last dish we ordered was the Salt and Pepper Japanese Tofu, it was so random. Crispy on the outside and the tofu was so soft and juicy in the center. It had capsicum, chilli, onions, shallots. I have never had it before but i really loved it, It was so much food we had left overs for lunch.
I think it will be my local place especially for the quality and taste.
