400 Gradi

400 Gradi

Last Tuesday our friend got a promotion at work so they decided we needed to go to 400 Gradi for dinner. This restuarant was good enough to win Marrgherita of the year 2104.

We did not know where we were going for dinner as it was a surprise. We arrived at 8:15pm for dinner and it was packed, I ordered a malt beer.

We ordered the arancini balls which is Crumbed rice balls made with Bolognese, pease, saffron with a sauce. It was really flavoursome and tasty and not dry. The second was Crocchette Di Patate and is potato with sheep cheese. It was very creamy and smooth, for starters the flavours were yum and tasty.

We ordered 3 pizzas, the world famous Margherita Varace Pizza,  San Marino Tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil. After the first mouthful you just want more, the tomato was sweet, the cheese was creamy.

The second one that i ordered was the Mais Pizza using San Marzano tomato,  tuna, zucchini, corn, cherry tomatoes and i wanted hot salami so i added it.Strange i know but i wanted it.

Its was random having the spicy salami and tuna. But i really enjoyed it.
The third Pizza we had was the Caserta Pizza using again San Marzano tomato, prosciutto and rocket

For Desert we ordered Cannoli's and they had 3 different types, vanilla, chocolate and orange.

After  the  dinner we ordered coffees , Vittoria was the only option  and as normal, it was bitter (unless you like that?).

The Food Was fantastic and apparently as close to Italian Pizza's as you can get.

 Thank you for reading,

Random Pics

Random Pics
Over the last few weeks I have taken random photos and should have loaded them up. I haven't so i am just putting a few of them up now.

We live about 30 minutes from the beach so every now and again we go for a drive and a bit of a walk. This is Mordiallic and it has a lovely pier to walk down, you can watch people fish and just sit around and chat.

We went to the grain store and had an amazing meal. It had an awesome selection of food and the coffee was good. It was good to go to a different place for a change.

I have wanted to go to Chez Dre for a while and we finally went. The desserts are fantastic and really different.  The coffee was acceptable, not the worst but not amazing either. I hate being fussy when it comes to coffee.

We had pizza with Kims sisters on the weekend and we went to Gradi in the Casino. I love their pizzas,

We took our old dog Penny for the day on Saturday, we don't see her much as she lives with Kims parents. We had her for a while when we moved out but she could not handle not having company all the time and it was not fair being in a small yard.  We took her to a friends place and they have a Shiba Inu called Nana. Penny does not know how to play with other dogs and never did, she just spends her time smelling random things. She is almost impossible to take for a walk as all she wants to do is smell stuff so she will lie on the grass and not move. Beagles are really stubborn.

I hope you like the pictures and i will take more photos soon.

The Common Man

The Common Man
Common Man on Urbanspoon

On Tuesday night we decided to go to south wharf for dinner, the prices at restaurants vary a lot. We wanted something a bit cheaper and saw that The Common Man had $10 Pizzas and they looked lovely. It is a big place that has good decorations. We saw that there was Funky Bunch Trivia and we have done it a few times before in Mordialloc and is always fun. We  had a group of six of us and thought it would be a good night, the staff was very accommodating and made space for us.

For drinks i had a Doppelbock Beer and it is very malty and dark. It is always nice to try something different.
Kim had a alcoholic Ginger beer and it tasted like normal ginger beer, could not taste the alcohol at all. She really enjoyed it.
For mains i had a Lamb pizza with shredded lettuce, pumpkin and other bits and pieces. It was amazing, the crust was crispy and the meat was tender. I would go back for it

Kim had the Vegetarian burger on Brioche bread and it was massive.

I could not take many photo as the trivia had started. If you get caught playing with your phone you loose points and we could not afford to do that. The trivia lasted about 2 hours and they have games as well. It costs nothing and you can win prices, first, second and third get prizes and second last wins two bottles of wine.
We really enjoyed the night and I don't agree with the negative comments Urban Spoon.
We will be back.
